Global Positioning System (GPS) Navigation Wander
These pictures were created by having
my Eagle Explorer GPS strobe $GPGGA sentences out its data ports every
2 seconds. I used MS-DOS Kermit 3.15 to log the approximately 1500
lines
of text. I used Multi-Edit to convert all the comma field delimiters
into
spaces, and deleted extra text. MathCad+ version 6.0 was used to import
the data file as a huge array. Lview Pro version 1.0b was used to snag
the screen display from MathCad and create these .gif files.
The units on all three axes are in meters. The X and Y axes
(surface
of the Earth) range over 400 meters, while the vertical axis (altitude)
ranges over 200 meters.
